PCR Plate Pin-hole Testing
Sorenson tests every PCR plate for presence of "pin-holes". Pin-holes are microscopic holes in the wells of PCR plates caused by occasional injection abnormalitites in production. These holes are not visible by eye and if not caught, will result in sample loss during PCR. To protect our customers and ensure the best quality manufacturing, we check each plate to reject any defective plates.

This method of 100% QA is accomplished by conducting "Hi-Pot" testing in each well. The plates are loaded in to a metal block and conductive pins are lowered in to the well. 14 000 Volts of electricity is applied to the pins and if there is a hole in the plate, electricity will arc to the metal block, causing a ground fault & rejection of the plate.

Anodized aluminum Freeze Blocks maintain temperature at 0° C for one hour after freezing and provide a stable platform for PCR reaction set-up. Fits 0.2ml PCR tubes, tube strips or 96-well PCR plates.
